Bowl, about 450 B.C. Demeter, the crowned goddess of earth and fertility, is sitting on her throne. In her left hand she is holding her two symbols of fertility: two ears of corn and two poppy capsules. Her right hand holds a burning torch. In front of her there is a small altar with a pomegranate.
