Maia

Bowl, about 490 B.C.

Maia in chiton and mantle stands in front of a flock of cattle, pointing with her left hand at the infant Hermes who sits in a winnowing basket shaped lake a shoe outside a cave. He is wrapped up in a cloak and has a large petasos on his head. A cow sniffs at the cradle.
