Kronos / Rhea

Pelike (amphora), 460 - 450 B.C.

Kronos stands at the right, raising one hand in amazement and holding his sceptre in the other. In front of him Rhea, one foot on a rock, holds out a stone, dressed like a baby (Zeus) towards Kronos. He knows, that he will be deposed by his own son and because of that he wants to kill his baby.
